Agriculture in Rwanda

 

MINAGRI is the leading agency for agriculture. There are many areas that need improvement such as access to seeds and proper irrigation mechanism but there is remarkable progress with gathering in cooperatives. There is focus on agriculture and selfsustainability as can also be seen in the budget: "Rwanda has budgeted 10.1% of the national budgetary allocation, and according to officials, it’s expected to rise to 12% by the end this year. Programmes such as the crop intensification programme (CIP) to increase production, has paid off by making Rwanda the most food secure country in the region" (quote).
